FUTY GETS NEW VICE CHANCELLOR

Professor B.H. Usman has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the Federal University0 of Technology, Yola (FUTY). Until his appointment, Professor B.H. Usman was the past Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) and Acting Vice Chancellor, FUTY.

He has a B.Sc. in Agriculture (Soil Science) with a second class honours, upper division degree, from the University of Maiduguri. M.Sc. in Soil Chemistry, University of Reading, England, U.K. and Ph.D in Soil Fertility and Fertilizer Management from the University of London, Wye College, England, U.K.

He now becomes the 6th Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Yola.     More>>

           ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

 

The following may qualify for admission into the specified postgraduate Programmes:

 

           Postgraduate Diploma

            (a)        Graduate of FUTY or any other recognized University.

 

(b)        Holders of the Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least an Upper Credit pass in relevant Discipline.

 

(c)        HND Holders with lower credit in relevant discipline but with a minimum of five years relevant post qualification experience.

 

(d)        Holders of other professional qualifications which may be acceptable to the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Senate of the University.

 

(e)        In special cases candidates may be admitted after passing such tests, examinations etc., as may be prescribed by a Department/School. 

 

            Masters Degree

           (a)        Holders of first Degree of FUTY with First or Second Class Honours in relevant subjects. 

 

(b)        Holders of equivalent qualifications from other recognized Universities

 

(c)        A Candidate with a degree lower than Second Class Honour may be eligible if either:

(i)                 He/She has good relevant Postgraduate Diploma with at least an Upper Credit, Pass or

(ii)               He/She has Higher National Diploma (HND) Plus Postgraduate Diploma with Upper Credit or Distinction.

(iii)             He/She Passes any prescribed qualifying Examination for Admission.

(iv)             He/She has a minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience.

 

(d)        Holders of any other qualifications with or without relevant experience which are acceptable to the School of Postgraduate Studies Committee, the Board of Postgraduate Studies and the Senate.

 

    

            Doctor of Philosophy

(a)        Candidates who hold a Masters Degree of FUTY with GPA 3.5 (on a 5 points scale) (b)        Candidates with equivalent qualification from other recognized Universities.

(c)        Candidates with any other qualifications with relevant working Experience which are acceptable to the Postgraduate School Board and Senate.

 

            General Admission Requirements

Candidates must have pass at Credit level in at least five departmental relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

 

 

            DURATION OF PROGRAMME

 

(a)        Postgraduate Diploma Programme

(Course work and Project Report)

(i)         Full-Time:        2 Semesters 12 Calendar Months

(ii)        Part-Time:        4 Semesters or 24 Calendar Months 

(b)       Master’s Degree Programme:

 

(i)        Full-time Master’s Degree by Course Work/Thesis.

Minimum duration 3 Semesters or 18 Calendar Months

Maximum duration 6 Semesters or 36 Calendar Months

 

(ii)        Part-time Master’s Degree by course Work/Thesis/Dissertation

Minimum duration 4 Semesters or 24 Months. 30 Months in some specialized fields

Maximum duration 8 Semesters or 48 calendar months

 

(c)        Ph.D. Programme:

 

(i)                 Full-Time Students

Minimum Duration 6 Semesters or 36 Calendar Months

Maximum duration 10 Semesters or 60 calendar months

 

 

(ii)               Part-time Students

Minimum Duration 8 Semesters or 48 Calendar Months

Maximum Duration 12 Semesters or 72 calendar months.

 

 METHOD OF APPLICATION

Interested applicants for all the Prograames can obtain application forms from the SECRETARY, SCHOOL OF POSTGRADUATE STUDIES, FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, YOLA, ADAMAWA STATE, on payment of non-refundable fee in cash or Bank draft payable to “Federal University of Technology, Yola” through Spring Bank Jimeta-Yola as follows:

(i)         Ph.D/ MTech/MA/M.Sc/MBA/MPA Fees  - Five thousand Naira (N5, 000.00)

(ii)        Postgraduate Diploma                          - Three thousand Naira (N3, 000.00)

  

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS

(i)         Completed forms should be accompanied with one(1) self-addressed envelope (each Measuring 22.5 cm x  10cm), (9” x 4”) and carrying current postal stamp to be used for the receipt of the application; and marked “PG Application for Admission.” All applications should be returned to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, Federal University of Technology, Yola on or before two weeks from the date of advertisement.

(ii)        Applicants are required to make a THOROUGH ARRANGEMENT with their previous institutions to forward copies of their Transcript to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies at the Federal University of Technology, Yola.
