PHILOSOPHY AND OBJECTIVES
The main objective of introducing the Ph.D. programme in Biochemistry
is to train graduates to acquire advanced knowledge and skills
with practical exposure in various
specialties of biochemistry so that they can take up careers
especially in Universities, research institutes and industries.
The
postgraduate training programme will not only reduce cost of sending
academic staff to other institutions outside and within the country,
but will also enable these graduate staff to assist in teaching
in the department and in contributing to the development of the
department while under training.
The University will benefit by training the staff in areas relevant
to its needs and also attract research grants from industries
and government in specific programmes.
