Functions

The SIWES Unit was established as part of the requirements by the National University Commission (NUC) and Industrial Training Fund (ITF) for the accreditation of any Engineering, Technology and Applied Sciences disciplines in any Nigerian University.  It functions to Coordinate the Students Industrial Training Programmes of the University, by liaising between the schools/ departments and the industry/establishments to ensure effective placement and supervision of students during their industrial training.

It also liaises between the NUC (the supervising agency) and the ITF (the funding agency) to ensure early and proper submission of students list and payment of both the students SIWES allowances and the Institutions supervision allowances accordingly.

In addition, this University being the only University within the zone (Adamawa  and Taraba zone) it also doubles as the headquarters of the SIWES Zonal Supervision Review Committee.  This entails co-ordinating the SIWES supervision activities of all the other tertiary institution within this zone and to plan the logistics with the various institutions SIWES Co-ordinators.
