Functions
This
office is responsible for all the functions of the University on behalf
of the Council and Senate. In
performing
the functions, Schools,
Departments, and specialized units
are established. The Vice Chancellor, as the Chief Executive,
supervises and directs these units to ensure that the aims and objectives
of the University are realized. Apart
from other functions delegated to his two Deputies which he supervises,
the Vice Chancellor is the Chairman of the following main .
(i) Senate
(ii) Appointment and Promotions (Academic and Admin. Tech.)
(iii) Management Committee
(iv) Committee of Deans and Directors
(v) Academic Planning Committee
(vi) Estimates Committee
(vii) Security Committee

The
functions of the office of the Vice Chancellor are inexhaustive since it
is the office of the Head of the Institution.
DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLORS
The
Vice Chancellor nominates two names for each
post of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Admin) and Senate votes on them.
The names of the successful candidates are forwarded to Council
for appointment. The tenure is 2 years in the first instance
and renewable for another term of 2 years.
