The range of exposure and the scope of the programme in a department of Architecture should produce a competent skilled and versatile individual capable of facing a broad spectrum of challenges of Environmental Design in Nigeria, exploiting the rich cultural and traditional Architecture resources in the country in general and within its immediate environment in particular.

A Department of Architecture should be engaged in understanding the Environmental Design problems of its immediate community and should make efforts towards evolving solutions to these problems.

There should be some flexibility in the course to allow for the changing needs of architectural education arising from changing social, economic, psychological, and technological environment.

(iii) To create the understanding of the physical, cultural, economic, and technical contexts of design.

(iv) To develop the ability to analyze design problems and the synthesis of the various elements, providing appropriate solutions in the process.

(v) To create understanding of the physical, cultural, social economic and technical contexts of design.
