HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY
The
department of Agricultural Economics and Extension was established in
October, 1990, with three (3) academic staff and eighteen (18) students.
At present it has 11 academic staff who specialize in different areas
of the courses taught. The Department has graduated five sets of students
to date.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To
be eligible for admission into the four year or five year B. Agric Techn.
Degree Programs, the candidate must have:
(i) UME
plus S. S. C. E with credits in Chemistry and Biology/Agric. Science,
Physics/Maths, Geography/Economics plus
a pass in English and any other subject.
(ii) WASC/GCE
‘O’ level plus credit passes in Chemistry, Biology/Agric.
Science, Physics/Maths plus a pass in
English and any other subject.
(iii) University Remedial science programme candidates should also have
four credits in ‘O’ level
with an average of B grade in Remedial examination.
(iv)
UME plus GCE ‘A’ level with credit passes in Chemistry,
Biology Agric Science.
(v)
HND with over-all credit plus credit passed in Chemistry and Biology/Agric
Science
DEGREE AWARDED:
Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (Agricultural Economics and Extension)
COURSE DURATION INCLUDING GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
The degree of Bachelor of Technology Agriculture and Agricultural Economics
and Extension (B. Tech. Agricultural) Agricultural Economics and Extension)
is 8 semesters for candidates whose entry qualification is advanced
level GCE/ National Diploma/Higher National Diploma and 10 semesters
for candidates whose entry qualification is ordinary level SSCE.
