BRIEF HISTORY
The
Unit came into prominence when Council appointed the first Director
in the person of Dr. Tukur A. Muhammad Baba in 1992.
Hitherto the functions of the Unit were carried out in the office
of the then only one Deputy, Vice-Chancellor. when Dr. Baba left to
take up another job with the Nigerian Minting and Printing Corporation
Lagos, just after about two years stay, the Unit was almost forgotten. Dr. P.
T. Mirchaulum who was subsequently appointed in 1995 by the Governing
Council retired in 2004. Thereafter Dr. Vandwhe Vandu Apagu, PhD has
been the acting Director since 2005. Based
on the NUC directives, Abuja, the name of the Unit has been modified to
conspicuously include Quality Assurance in 2005. Thus, its new
designation as ACADEMIC PLANNING AND QUALITY ASSURANCE DIVISION. The
Division is repositioned to conduct the following mandates.
