The University Oral History Archive Project - record your memories

The University's Oral History Archive is the only one of its kind in Nigeria and began in 2005. Interviews with a wide cross-section of people associated with the University were originally intended to aid historians working on monographs commemorating the Quincentenary; however, interviewing continues today, and the archive now contains over 100 interviews with individuals connected to the University.

Alumni attending reunions at the University are invited to attend interviews so that memories of student life might be recorded for Oral History Archive. In June 2002 and 2003, graduates attending the Anniversary Reunion Weekends contributed towards the Archive. Alumni from 1980's and 1990's spoke about student experiences during early University years, which was a period when there were very few interviews in the Archive.

There are also very few interviews from the 1980s and 1990s, so please contact the Alumni Relations Office if your class will be in Yola for a reunion and you would like to be involved. The interviews only take one hour of your time and your memories become part of this historic record of the life of the University.

If you would like to volunteer to be interviewed during a reunion or visit, please contact alumni@futy.edu.ng
