Introduction
The University administrative structure is composed of the Council,
Senate and other. .
The
Council
The Governing Council is the highest policy making body in the
University. It has the power to make laws for the general administration
of the University and its finances. The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of
Council, and some members are appointed by the Federal Government, based
on their merit taking cognizance of their experience in public and
private sectors, while some are elected from within the University
community i.e. from senate, Congregation and Convocation. The
Vice-Chancellor who is the Chief Executive is appointed by the Federal
Government.
The
Senate
Senate has the supreme authority on all academic matters of the
University. It is composed of the Vice-Chancellor, as Chairman, the
Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Deans of Schools, all professors, the
University Librarian, Representatives of School Boards and those
appointed by the Vice-Chancellor in accordance with the University law.

Administrative Department
The Vice-Chancellor’s Office
The Vice-Chancellor’s office is the nerve center of the University
administration. It co-ordinates the functions and activities of all
Departments of the University.
Office of the Registrar
The Registry handles all formal correspondences on appointments,
resignation, contracts, legal and property matters. It has two major
Divisions: namely the Academic and the Establishment Divisions. The
Academic Division handles admission, examinations records and other
similar academic matters of students. The Establishment Division handles
all establishment matters of the University.
The Bursary
The Bursary is the centre of the University’s finances. It handles all
matters relating to payments of bills, salaries, contracts, etc.
Works and Maintenance
The Works and Maintenance Department takes care of University physical
asset. This unit also maintains all estates, and other properties of the
University.
Physical Planning
The Physical Planning Unit takes charge of Capital Projects, and sees to
the planning and provision of necessary infrastructural facilities in
the University.
